Barnhem Children’s Home in Phuket, Thailand warmly welcomed us when we arrived with our bag of tricks for teaching maths. Children aged between 5 and 7 years old participated in workshops learning mathematics through exploration and manipulation. Their focus and enthusiasm was infectious.
Gecko School, Phuket, Thailand
At Gecko Community School we opened our doors after school hours to the local Thai Community to come and learn Literacy and Mathematics for free. We had a regular eager group of boys who came each Monday afternoon and in addition to being taught number and place value using manipulatives they also explored shape, space and problem solving.
