Transforming Lives Through Education: Gecko on the Move Partners withTwende Education for All in Zambia

The seeds of this partnership were sown over a dinner table among friends in Andorra, where conversations about Andrea, the founder of Twende Education for All, piqued the interest of Gecko on the Move. Recognizing the potential for synergy, Celi and Andrea wasted no time in connecting over Zoom, setting the stage for what would become a transformative alliance.
Within a mere six months, Gecko on the Move found itself embarking on its inaugural project in Zambia, partnering with Twende Education for All to establish a learning centre at the University Teaching Hospital’s cancer unit. This endeavour marked the beginning of a journey that would touch the lives of countless children and educators in remote areas of Zambia.

One of the project’s notable successes was the teacher training conducted at Mwateshi Primary School in the Mpika region, a rural area devoid of adequate maths resources. Despite the challenges, the training day proved to be a resounding success, with teachers demonstrating a keen willingness to learn and adapt new teaching methodologies. The introduction of maths manipulatives transformed the learning experience for both teachers and students, fostering a deeper understanding of mathematical concepts and igniting a newfound enthusiasm for learning.
